Kahului is the major Airport in Maui and is located in the northern part of the island. It is only three miles away from Kahului settlement. It is over 1,390 acres accommodating domestic, Pan – Pacific as well as inter island services. Major carriers operating from mainland US to Kahului include United Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Delta, Aloha and American Trans Air. Kahului is fully serviced by car rentals, shuttles, tour operators and helicopter services. The car rentals are located on the right side as soon as one steps out of Kahului airport. One can also use Speed –iShuttle which is an inexpensive alternative.
Kapalua, the second airport of Maui is situated in the western area of the island. It only caters to commercial propellers and air buses. It has just one runway and no facility for cargo and is operational only during daytime. Kapalua is convenient if one is staying around the Ka’anapali resorts. Island Air has direct flights from Kapalua to Honolulu.
Hana is the third airport in Maui and is only 120 acres in size. It is located in the eastern area of the island. It caters to non scheduled air taxis, commuters and low key aviation activity. Pacific Wings services Hana airport. Plans are ongoing to develop this airport further as traffic is expected to increase.
